The way of Testivus

The overall presentation is a bit silly and over-blown, but I really like the basic ideas presented in Alberto Savoia's The Way of Testivus. It's hard-earned wisdom, and worth keeping in mind for all programming activities.

I particularly like:

  • The best time to test is when the code is fresh

  • and, Tests not run waste away


but really, the whole thing is good and worth reading.

If you want more lessons-from-the-trenches in the software testing vein, I recommend Kaner Bach & Pettichord's Lessons Learned in Software Testing. Also great stuff!

    Hey Bryan,

    I resent the comment that Testivus is "silly and over-blown."

    "Fluffy and pretentious" would be a more accurate description – and what I was actually going for :-).
