A cat is not a dog

This weekend, we finished our season of attendance at Oakland's Woodminster Theater with Cats

Outdoor. Musical. Theater.

It's hard to imagine three words which, while each quite appealing on their own, go together so nicely as these three.

We're in our 5th or 6th season of attending shows at Woodminster, and we've come to really enjoy it.

Partly, this is because we had nice luck this year: we liked all three shows, and the weather was favorable for all three of our visits.

Partly, we're just getting better at the whole experience: we know what to bring, and what not to bring, and when to arrive, and when to leave, and overall we are much better at relaxing and enjoying ourselves.

This weekend, after finding ourselves in the middle of a picnic-table-mixup, we ended up sharing our table with a group of four young dancers, who had come with their mothers partly to see all the wonderful dancing that is Cats, and partly because one mother's friend was playing Grizabella.

The girls were chatty and excited; I hope they enjoyed the show. Certainly, Grizabella sang Memory extremely well!

I'm already looking forward to next year's shows...
