Carlsen had white, but didn't seem to me to get any advantage from the opening.
The queens came off the board on move 16, along with a pair of rooks.
By move 35, each player had a single minor piece and a bunch of pawns. One of Karjakin's pawns was doubled; Karjakin had the bishop, Carlsen the knight.
A draw was decided on move 42.
