Some (certainly over-optimistic) forecasters have predicted that Northern California will receive as much precipitation in the next 72 hours as it received in the previous 14 months.

The roads are already clogged with eager winter sports enthusiasts headed up to the mountains.
The emergency authorities are tense about flooding, as the parched land won't be able to absorb the rain very well.
Me, I've got a few errands to run and things to do, but I'll be perfectly content to sit inside and listen to the raindrops and play Europa Universalis IV all weekend long.
Now the puppy, on the other hand, may want to go and play in the rain.
But happily, that's an activity my better half enjoys, so I think we're all in good shape and well-prepared...
